National Breastfeeding Awareness week is 24th – 29th June 2013.
Jan Potter Plymouth Breastfeeding Co-ordinator;
‘This is a wonderful opportunity for us all to promote the benefits and raise awareness of breastfeeding. We would like to invite all Children’s centres/Latch on groups to hold their own breastfeeding awareness activities during the week, so that we can raise the profile of breastfeeding in Plymouth.
Previous activities have included “past, present and future” parties at Latch-on groups, picnics, breast buddy tea party, quizzes, competitions etc.
We will be holding a City Centre event at the Guildhall on Saturday 29th June, in conjunction with the mother and baby fair. This also happens to be Armed Forces day, so the footfall within the City Centre is likely to be high. Anyone who would like to volunteer on the day for a couple of hours please let Mandy Chapman know (tel 431637).
We will be distributing a quiz for use during the week, with lots of great prizes on offer.
The quiz is now available on this site – please go to the downloads page.
We are also inviting you to take part in our display competition. The theme for the displays is “Breastfeeding: At the heart of our family”
Once you are happy with your display, please take a photograph of it, and email it to Janicepotter@nhs.net . The closing date for entries is Monday 24th June. The displays will be judged and a prize awarded to the display which best reflects the theme.
If you would like any resources, posters, leaflets etc… Please let us know. info@plymouth-latchon.org.uk’
